How do I install FlexyBox?

Windows updates

Before installing the Flexybox system, it is a good idea to check for Windows updates. You do this as follows:

  • You need to go in and turn on .NET updates in Windows on the applicable client PC so that it happens automatically. To do this, follow these steps:

Step 1:

  • Press the home icon on the client PC (No. 1).

  • Press Settings (No. 2).


Step 2: A new window will open.

  • Press Update and security (No. 3).

Step 3:

  • Press Advanced settings (No. 4).

Step 4:

  • Turn on Receive updates for other Microsoft products when you update Windows (No. 5).

  • When the option is turned on, press (No. 6).

Step 5: You will now return to the page from step 3.

  • Press Check for updates (No. 7).

How to install FlexyBox

In order for the Flexybox system to run optimally on your computer, you must ensure that your computer meets our system requirements: What are the system requirements for a computer to run the FlexyBox system?
Info: As well as this guide, you also need to turn on .NET updates in Windows on the applicable client PC so that it happens automatically. This is shown under the instructions below and is titled; Windows Update
To install FlexyBook, follow these steps:
Step 1:
Download the following two programs:

REMEMBER!
In some browsers, you need to indicate that you trust the files before you can download them. For example, as shown in the images below, you will need to do the following:

  • Press the three dots (No. 1) and then press Keep (No. 2).

  • Press the down arrow by Show more (No. 3) and press Keep anyway (No. 4).

  • You can now open the files (No. 5).

Step 2:
First install the HTML component:

  • Press the file (No. 1).

  • Then simply press Next until the program is installed.

REMEMBER! If you use a browser other than Chrome, the files may download in a different way than shown in the image below.

Step 3:
Then install FlexyBook:

  • Press the file (No. 2).

  • If you see the window below, press yes.

Step 4: A new window will open.

  • Press Install (no. 3).

Step 5: A new window will open.

  • Press Finish (no. 4).

Step 6: You should now find the FlexyBook folder. It finds the folder as follows:

REMEMBER! If you have challenges navigating the folders in windows, Flexybox will help you install the program. This will be invoiced at the current rates.

  • Either press the folder icon (Explorer) or press the windows button and E

  • Press This computer

  • Press Local disk (C:).

  • Press Programs (x86) (No. 5).

You now need to set permissions for the folder:

  • Right-click FlexyBook (No. 6).

  • Press Properties (No. 7).

Step 7: A new window will open.

  • Press Security (No. 8).

  • Scroll down in the Group or username field:

  • You can choose to press Users (DESKtop-2PC4KFS/Users) and TrustedInstaller (No. 9), but you can also just press Edit... (No. 10).

  • A new window will open. Press Users (XX) (In the example it is Users (DESKtop-2PC4KFS/Users) ) (No. 11) and tick Full control (No. 12).

  • Do the same for TrustedInstaller (No. 11) and tick Full Control (No. 12).

  • In the FlexyBook Permissions window (No. 13), press OK.

  • In FlexyBook Properties, press OK.

  • You should now find the FlexyBook program via Explorer.

  • Right-click FlexyBook.

  • Press Properties

Info: The window may vary depending on which version of windows you are using.

Step 8: A new window will open.

  • Press Compatibility (No. 14).

  • Press Change settings for all users (No. 15).

Step 9: A new window will open.

  • Press Edit high dpi settings (No. 16).

  • Tick Override high DPI scaling. Scaling performed by: (No. 17).

  • Press the down arrow and select System (No. 18).

  • Press OK (No. 19).

  • Press Apply.

  • Press OK.

Step 10:

  • Right-click again on FlexyBook (No. 20).

  • Press Run as administrator (No. 21).

Info: If the system will not start, it may be because the date format needs to be changed. To do this, follow these instructions: How do I change the date format when installing FlexyBox?

  • If the window below appears, press Yes.

Step 11: A new window will open.

  • Enter your start code (No. 22).

Remember! The start code is issued only to the owner of the company. However, you can also find it in an already open system. See steps 15 and 16 of this guide or use this guide: How do I find the startup code/key?

  • Press Continue (No. 23).

REMEMBER! If the program does not start automatically, it is often because there are problems with your connection from the computer to the server. For example, if you are on a guest network, if the server is down or there are network problems where the server is. This is often a network error and not a fault in the Flexybox system.

  • Tick Private networks and public networks.

  • Press Allow access.

Step 12:

  • The program loads.

  • Decide whether you want to take over another available workstation (No. 24) and select the workstation (No. 25) or whether you want to create a new workstation (No. 26) and enter the name of the workstation (No. 27).

  • Press Continue (No. 28).

Step 13: A new window will open.

  • Decide on the purpose of the workstation (No. 29).

  • Press Continue (no. 30).

Step 14: A new window will open.

  • Enter your long code and press Login.

REMEMBER! It is important that you have access to create workstations. If you don’t have it, you need to get in touch with someone in your own organisation who has higher access or rights than you do.

  • The program will now open (No. 31).

  • You must remember to restart the program for it to register on the correct workstation.

Step 15: Once you are in the program, you can find the key to install the system on other computers.

  • Press Setup (no. 32).

  • Press Get startup code (no. 33). This can also be called Download Key.

Step 16:

  • The key will now appear on the screen (No. 34).

After installation – Create a shortcut for FlexyBook
When you have finished installing Flexybox, create a shortcut for FlexyBook. You do this as follows:

Step 1:

  • Right-click FlexyBook and drag it to the desktop.

Step 2:

  • Press Create shortcuts here (No. 3).

Step 3:
You can also add the shortcut to your taskbar. You do this as follows:

  • Right-click on the shortcut (No. 4).

  • Press Show more settings (No. 5).

Step 4:

  • Press Attach to the taskbar (No. 6).

REMEMBER! It is important that you use the shortcut (No. 7) when you start the program, otherwise you will not get the latest updates.

If you have multiple departments running standalone databases / individual servers per department
You should do this if you have several departments and need to install multiple versions:
Step 1:

  • Right-click on the folder you just installed (No. 1).

  • Press Copy (No. 2).

  • Alternatively, select the folder and press Ctrl and C

Step 2:

  • Paste the folder into the same folder.

  • Press Continue (No. 3).

Step 3:

  • Rename the folder to FlexyBook - [Insert department name] (No. 4).

  • You must then do the same as you did with the first folder. Right-click on the folder and grant the same rights as for the first folder.

Step 4:

  • Inside the folder, find the file; config and delete it (No. 5).

  • Press Continue (No. 6).

Step 5:

  • Find FlexyBook again (No. 7)

  • Set up properties again as you did the first time (from step 7 to step 9).

  • Run the program as administrator, as you did the first time (step 10).

  • Now the program starts

  • Enter the start code and set up the system as you did the first time (from step 11 to step 16).


Info: If you have several departments, do the same thing over and over again until you have created all the departments.
